Version 2.3.1 is now the offical release of the Pica Calculator 2. Version 2.3 was probably the shortest upload in history. This was mainly due to an uploading problem that gave me time to think... dangerous...! You will find that the popup menu has been completely redone in heirarchial form which is much cleaner than previous menu swapping. This led to changes in the Preferences dialog by removing the menu selection there and replacing it with a Custom Menu Item configuration portion. This custom menu item is one the user configures to perform numeric conversions of there own. This of course, also led to changes in the popup menus of the preferences dialog in which an option to configure the type buttons for custom value entry was added.
The documentation is still in a preliminary state and will be revised at a later date. Since DTP is what I do all day long the motivation on this part of the project is difficult to maintain in the after hours. There are probably a number of descrepancies in the documentation that have developed during developement(!). There might even be a missing feature or two though I hope not. Since I could spend another year picking over everything I am hoping that any problems you may identify will be reported back to me in whatever form you desire (please be gentle though...).
Registered users of previous versions may upgrade for free by sending a floppy disk (DD or HD) and a postage paid self addressed mailer for the return trip. Well, I guess that is not exactly free. Typical postage for a small mailer and disk is $0.52 each way is the U.S. or $1.76 each way for international postage (from the U.S. anyway). Compared to this year's forthcoming upgrade cycle for commerical products this is basically free!
Others may register the Pica Calculator 2 for $25 (U.S). You will receive a disk contain the latest versions of the Calculator, Documentation, and Sample Programs. Of course, the register version does not contain the annoying shareware reminder messages. In keeping with the existing practice of Golden State Graphics, registered users of any other product from Golden State Graphics may register the Pica Calculator for $15 (U.S.). ***NOTE>>>> The freeware version of theTypeBook does not qualify, even if obtained directly from Golden State Graphics. Only those who have supported shareware "monetarily" in the past qualify for discounts in the future! Database software does have its purpose.
